Getting to Selangor is possible via various ways. As it engulfs capital city Kuala Lumpur, a lot of the city dwellers choose to stay outside the city and thereby spilling over to the state. These circumstances require transport to be available all the way out the other parts of Selangor.

As Sepang is a town in Selangor, it hosts the The Kuala Lumpur International Airport which is one of the most sophisticated and largest airport in the world. It is often regarded to be an attraction in itself due to its modernistic design in within a natural environment. Its forest-style landscaping, food outlets and the holding of world’s tallest control tower makes it a unique and special attraction in itself. Most flights come into the country from overseas through this airport.

At the same time, nearby KLIA there is the Low Cost Carrier Terminal, a newly built airport catered for budget flights and airlines like Air Asia which mostly service domestic flights from other major cities like Johor Bahru, Penang, Kota Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Miri. The Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang is the former international airport of the country. It caters predominantly for domestic flight. Once at the airports, one can take the buses and taxicabs or rent a self-drive car from the companies there.

Selangor, being in the middle of the Peninsular can also be reached by rail. Tourists can engage the Keretapi Tanah Melayu services. Known more familiarly by KTM, it connects the north, south and east of Peninsular Malaysia all the way to Singapore and Thailand.

In terms of rail, one can also use the Light Railway Transit (LRT) which connect most major parts of the state in around Petaling Jaya all the way into the capital of Kuala Lumpur.

Alternatively, one can use the road network. While one might not be too fond of traffic jams, avoiding rush hours would be a good time to travel along the various expressway circling the state, connecting the traveler within and out to other states as well. the expressways here are dedicated to lead one to a specific location like the Karak Highway which goes to the East Coast, The KESAS Shah Alam Expressway, the LDP Puchong-Damansara Highway, The New Klang Valley Expressway and the SPRINT Expressway, the Selayang-Kepong Highway, the BESRAYA Salak South Highway and the Federal Highway which is one of the most utilized highway in the country.
