In terms of attractions, there are many destinations one can see when in Sarawak. To say the least, Sarawak is famous for its natural parks, hence the state government has stipulated various locations and classified them under National Parks.

National Parks are abundant, starting from the most famous one is Gunung Mulu National Park, which houses the internationally renowned and World Heritage certified Mount Mulu and the Mulu Caves. The Bako National Park is where one can see the proboscis monkey. For those who would like to see the world’s largest flower the Rafflesia, head out to Gunung Gading National Park while Bukit Lambir National Park has got great waterfalls. The Kubah National Park has three mountains namely Gunung Serapi, Gunung Sendok and Gunung Selang. The Orang Ulu people, who are also known as the Berawan are housed around Loagan Bunut National Park while the Batang Ai National Park houses the biggest trans-national protected rainforests.

The smallest national park is the beautiful Tanjung Datu National Park while the Talang-Satang National Park was built to conserve the turtle population here. Famous for its endless row of sandy beaches in within some densely populated forest is Similajau National Park. Anther famous national park is the Niah National Park, which is where old archaeological items and remains was found.

The Wind Cave Nature reserve and the Sama Jaya Nature Reserve are all great preservation sites while one could visit Semengoh to see the home of the orangutans. Damai is famous for its beach resorts located along the Santubong Peninsula while the Rejang River is the longest one in the country, is the main connection between the smaller cities and towns with the longhouses in the state.

The Kelabit Highlands, also known as Bario Highlands is renowned for its rice plantation and cool serene breeze. One would have to take connecting flights from Miri to get to the highlands where the everyday lives of the Kelabit people can be experienced.

One could also enjoy the beach side areas of the Esplanade in the city of Miri where the waters are loud and the beach side is often frequented by families and couples.
